Library Fun

As any self respecting home schooler will tell you, we love the library. Go at least twice a week, in the summer probably more. Love the summer reading program and all the activities that go along with it. Most summers we join 2-3 different library programs to get in all the fun activities. This morning was a beading workshop. Here Grace is making a beaded hairclip. While she was in the workshop I went to the book sale they have every Saturday. Since it is a small library in a small town, the turnover in books is not as often as a book lover might like. But today I hit bit. In the top picture is A Fill for Joan, Anne of Green Gables (All three stories), Charles Dickens (Oliver Twist, Great Expectations, and A Tale of Two Cities, the little thin book on the bottom is a pen and ink drawing book.
In this next picture is Food Drying, The Trumpet of the Swan, Alice in Wonderland, and Nature Nurture. Got all of them for 8 dollars. Yeah! Also checked out some books on chickens, building coops, bread making, and a daily life of the Amish. Lots of reading going on around here and planning for the chickens.

We love our local library! We take part in all the programs too and even though ours is a small library, it is part of a county wide system, so we can request lots of books:)

We do love our little library! But, we also love being part of the bigger library system. My kids feel too "old" to be part of the library reading programs these days, but I remember when we were keeping track of books and filling out all those little cards! Have fun!

What fun finds! I love book sales and it has been too long since I've been to one!

You asked about Rebecca's plans for the future. She wants to be a Mommy. That is her heart's desire. She would love to adopt and would also love to homeschool. I think she'll be a great Mom! Thanks for your sweet comments about her.

Blessings
Leslie

Well done! You have some great books, there!

~Our library doesn't have activities such as the one Grace took part in, which is a shame. They do have a really good summer reading programme, though. I hope that, in the future, ours may have some activities for the children as they have recently started up a crochet and knitting group, along with a Book Group - they are heading in the right direction!

Looking forward to reading about your chickens :)
