Weekly Wrap - A Learning Curve

This week has gone by in the blink of an eye. Lots of exercise, fun with friends, and learning Trim Healthy Mama. The last few days have found me and Grace starting the program with breakfasts and snacks, hoping to add lunch and dinner in another week. Yesterday Grace got spacers and really doesn't feel like eating much anyway. On Monday we had a great afternoon visit with friends. So excited that we are going back again next week to work on some sewing projects with them. The weather has really warmed up and Grace has taken advantage of this with spending lots of time with the backyard chickens.

We are almost finished with our review of Supercharged Science. The last unit we have studied is about the cell and I thought Grace would enjoy creating a 3D model. A large portion of this week was used to finish the project and watch some videos and experiments about cells on the Supercharged Science website. I will have a review about this coming up next week on the blog.
Final classes of our Cooperative are in session. We only have three more class period before Recital Night and then performances of Fiddler on the Roof. This is my elementary science class. This class revolved around running a zoo properly. In this photo the kids are creating habitats for their chosen animals.

Algebra continues to be the bane of our existence. Slowly muddling through each lesson. Currently because of other scheduled classes, events, etc. we are only have to complete three lessons a week. I could up how many weeks it will take us to finish (because I don't want her to do the CAT until it is finished) which will be the beginning of August. Looks like we have to find some way for cranking out 4 lessons a week. Once Cooperative ends for the year that will be very doable.

Grace is still enjoying her Japanese lessons through Mango Languages. She will continue using this throughout the summer. I don't want her to lose what she has learned by taking a break. Some of the other things we have worked on this week are: Philosophy Adventure, Victus Study Skills, clay with the Artistic Pursuits books, vocabulary, House of Hades, and all her outside of the home classes.

I would say that the biggest items we have worked on this week is exercise, eating healthy, and thoughts about the online business she wants to start with her dad. Yesterday was a visit to get spacers and next week an appliance will be put on her back teeth to correct the overbite. This will stay in place for one year, then she will move on to Invisalign.

Sounds like a good and profitable week - good for you....these last weeks of the year get a little harder to stay focused....I am trying to come up w/ a wonderful unit study to put some enthusiasm into a strong finish for the year. Glad you had a good week. :)

I am doing Invisalign now. I started in January after being told for years and years I needed it. My teeth were always perfectly straight until I had the girls, then they began moving on a very strange path. If you have any questions, email me. I was just thinking I would do a post about it soon.
