Great Food Documentary

Last night I watched a very eye opening documentary on Netflix. Forks Over Knives is about the whole foods/plants based diet and how it can resolve major illnesses and diseases. The whole foods diet advocates not eating meats and diary products. I think I could try the no meats but I would be a very unhappy camper without my daily glass of milk and cheese. But the evidence they produced was pretty convincing. Over many years during the 80s and 90s two doctors did separate studies about the effects of meat and diary and how they correlate with heart disease, cancer, diabetes, stroke, and hypertension. The scientific data they showed is astounding. After watching this documentary I am even more assured they getting rid of processed foods is the right answer. The problem is just doing it.

It takes a lot of conviction to control your intake like this. A friend has been sticking to the whole foods approach and finds that shopping and planning take up a lot of her time but she knows she is feeling better with it. I could not do it.

Oh this sounds like a great movie. Bummer, I just recently canceled netflix too. But we have been really trying to get rid of all processed foods from out diet. And it's not been easy. Mostly because of price. But I find that when I keep meals really, really, simple then I can mostly pull it off. We do get raw milk and I think I will continue to do that but we don't do much for meat around here. I can tell that I feel better lately since we've changed things around.

I wonder if there is anyway I could get hold of this show through our library. I think I'll give that a try. Thanks for sharing.

Hey what do you know about that. I just ordered it from the inter library loan program. I am surprised they had it.
